In Jan 2006 Mantanmoreland began posting on the "OSTK" board on yahoo finance as "lamborghini751", later "frankiedarrow" - note that Frankie Darro's historical relationship with "Mantan Moreland" in movies:

His 3rd post was to promote GW's blog, which had begun its "Smear Campaign" against Byrne and others who "oppose naked short selling".

It's also the same time that GW started on WP under his first account, TomStoner

which was shown in this later edit by Mantanmoreland to be a so far unacknowledged on WP sock of TomStoner (only LastExit is acknowledged by WP to be an official MM sock!)

He started out relatively nice. Blog promotion, which was mainly to promote his forthcoming book. GW's goal is to counter "NSS is bad" proponents (like the SEC Chairman, LOL!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...ldid=116426524) and there was blog war before ASM, with GW vs "TheSanityCheck", run by a pseudonym "Bob O'Brien" who also tried to edit WP as "Boborbrien". His editing shows a high level of intelligence, writing talent, and subject matter knowledge, but he didn't even try to follow WP rules, so didn't last long and was easy pickings for GW to fend off.

GW posted some really awful actual personal attacks against Patrick Byrne that were chock full of moral depravity. Demonstratable, as opposed to just the allegations of doing so kind:

...incomprehensible Baloneyism first mouthed by the Baloney Sultan, Patrick "Trust Fund Bozo" Byrne. It is believed that the phallic-sounding nature of this baloneyism is related to the fact that Byrne only has one ball.

This garbage about MM/Sami/et al being defenders against an O'stock backed "corporate smear campaign" against SV and GW is complete and utter diversionary nonsense. GW started both the blog war and the WP war.
