Thank you, Los Angeles Times!

First they confirm that Sue Gardner's tattoo is of a black widow spider (hmm... what message does that convey?), and now we have photo evidence that Erik is sporting a goatee and doing his best to grow sideburns! (Somey's gonna be pissed.)

Words 2 Laugh Bye —

QUOTE

When it comes to money, "we are about as unsophisticated as we could possibly be," says Sue Gardner, executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation, operator of the popular almanac website. From left: Brion Vibber, Veronique Kessler, Cheryl Owens, Mike Godwin, Erik Moller, Gardner, Cary Bass and Erica Ortega gather in the nonprofit's new San Francisco headquarters.

Source. LA, LA, LA TIMES.

Does anyone else have that Cosa Nostra Darnus feeling that we're gonna be quoting this one again, and again, and again …

I wonder how much 3000 square feet costs in San Francisco.

If you have to ask, you're too unsophisticated to afford it.

"the Wikimedia Foundation, operator of the popular almanac website"? Surely, WP is NOT an almanack.

In these trying economic times, it's probably a fair guess to say about $2.25 per square foot, per month. That is, maybe $7,000 per month. What's really costing them is headcount. I'm predicting that without a major infusion of benefactor dough, they're going to have burned through all their cash by August or September (based on the November 2007 data I saw that tallied $340,000 in costs for that month).

Actually, I believe it is a scorpion. I once asked her about it, and she said it was a youthful indiscretion. I don't know what the one on her ankle is.

WMF employees

I can't help asking: does anyone know the usernames all these people usually go under, other than Mike Godwin?
He uses his real name. How quaint.

(So I know who to avoid, other than the editors who are disliked enough to have their own forums here.)

(just curious)
