Goatse on WP Options

There is a link to the famous goatse image in the goatse.cx article. There has been a multi-year discussion and a currently in progress RFC on whether or not the article should directly include the actual goatse image.

The identity of the person in the image has been removed from the article because of BLP rules.

Well, the For the children (politics) (T-H-L-K-D) does at least admit that "people generally value the welfare of the next generation of a society." It doesn't admit that people generally value the welfare of children regardless of what "generation" they belong to, but of course, that might be be considered "original research."

Anyway, explain to me how the objection to, at the very least, putting the goatse image in a rollup or scroller is not based on binary thinking and appeal-to-emotion? It's the age-old "give 'em an inch" argument, which may be valid in some contexts, but I don't think this is one of those contexts. On Wikipedia, censorship arouses considerably more emotion than child-endangerment; we've seen that time and again.

True, we've also seen a few cases where something controversial was at least partially resolved by referring to a precedent, and yeah, someone might get it into their head to go put every porn image on WP into a rollup "per Goatse decision," but I doubt that - most of the time people on WP just argue over everything, regardless of what happened in similar past situations. Either way, if you think that's going to be a problem, just spell it out - "no rollups based on precedent." Not so difficult, is it?
