Secret Mugshot

Is this the friend that Slim was cross about checkuser 'checking'? He certainly should be checked. Anonymous Dissident seems to have a lot of admin privileges, despite being barely literate. Or should that be, because of being barely literate?

Meta-wiki (sysop; bureaucrat)
MediaWiki (sysop)
Commons (sysop)
Wikispecies (sysop; bureaucrat)
en-Wiki (sysop)

Like Slim, like Baggini and Stangroom (favoured by Slim with personal pages) he has some passing interest in philosophy. Indeed, he is 'one' of the users (my learned friend) docmartincohen recently but ineffectually (complaint resolved - nothing to be done!) complained about on the 'Admin noticeboard' for planting adverts or unsuitable references, generally at the end of the first sentence, for various 'famous philosophers' (Nietzsche).

Hmmm.. I am open to the idea he may be 'harmless', but it seemed curious to me that he played a role in promoting Jeremy Stangroom's totally unreliable book "great Philosophers' - planting eg. on sentence one of the Nietzsche page it as 'a source' for Nietzsche's existence...

There is no role for such a 'footnote' other than to promote an author... but others now say A-D is only a youngster and hence may just be naive... that's possible...

Stangroom used to describe himself as a computer specialist (which is what he is) until he found it convenient to call himself 'an academic' (which he is not) and "co-editor of ‘The Philosopher’s Magazine’ (one of the pre-eminent philosophy publications in the world) " as it says here on Amazon

In the blurb, he writes: "Truth has always been a central preoccupation of philosophy in all its forms and traditions. However, in the late twentieth century truth became suddenly rather unfashionable"

Stangroom, in his new role of 'world intellectual', is published now also by Continuum, who have produced his book 'Why Truth Matters ( Jeremy Stangroom; Ophelia Benson) at UK pounds 9.99, discounted to 6.99 on Amazon.

As a writer me-self, I know books like these are not in fact profitable for publishers. Stangroom is published, like Bagginni, by Continuum, a strange publisher that seems to have a lot of money for promoting apparently hopelessly dull dull books with a 'neoconservative' agenda... It used to describe itself as operating from 'London, New York and Zurich' with a huge budget and a handful of staff. Zurich, for goodness sake! (But it's a good base for distributing money...)

I think Continuum could be a 'CIA press'. It certainly seems to be funnelling money and publicity towards neoconservative authors - like Baggini. A-D seemed to be involved, but it could just be a coincidence.

As for Wikipedia, that is evidence for a 'conspriacy! Stangroom, Baggini, Stangroom's books individually, Stangroom's website, Bagginni's books - all live on there, despite numerous attempts - not just my own! - to delete or at least restrain their cruder, promotional aspects...

But then, as I've stressed in other posts, Baggini and Stangroom had their pages personally started bySlimVirgin, who has guarded them carefully ever since (25 edits of about 50 on the Baggini page are Slim's...)

My best guess is that A-D has been 'promoted' as a useful sap by Slim...
