Well, the Giano Wars continue.
Giano (T-C-L-K-R-D) was blocked under the ArbCom-placed civility parole for insulting Theresa Knott (T-C-L-K-R-D) . Giano comes back as an IP to say hello to Bishonen (T-C-L-K-R-D) . Charles Matthews (T-C-L-K-R-D) reblocks Giano for evading a block. Moreschi (T-C-L-K-R-D) unblocks the block with the backing of several administrators. FT2 (T-C-L-K-R-D) blocks Moreschi and Giano. Now its likely Moreschi may lose his sysop bit for his act of rebellion. Many administrators now hate FT2 and Charles Matthews, but the Community is still heavily divided. Sigh. And the tragedy continues. ![]() QUOTE I told you this would only end in tears... |

The unblock message was "Petty block based on wrongheaded thinking: per Bishonen's statement this was not block evasion, was trivial evasion in the first place, and Matthews' arbitratorial authority has been very bankrupt for a while now anyway."
More than a little pointed. This followed: QUOTE(Moreschi's talkpage) I doubt it. Moreschi, perhaps you'd like to explain why you think you know better than seven arbitrators? And why you have chosen provocative wording in the block log, a permanent record? Also, I think you should explain in terms why you have ignored the provision in WP:UNBLOCK, requiring you to consult with the blocking admin before unblocking. Choose your words carefully. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:05, 16 December 2008 (UTC) Because all the others disagreed with you: "no consensus" obviously defaults to "do not block". And yes, I do know better than most of you, who lost touch with reality a long time ago. Yourself particularly, judging by the Slr II RFC. The community extensively commented on your block and found it risible. I find it contemptible: a final cheap shot as the revolving door removes you from the scene after too many years. Moreschi (talk) 21:08, 16 December 2008 (UTC) ... No, Moreschi, this was not the way to help the situation. Being a martyr for Giano does not help write an encyclopaedia. Sam Blacketer (talk) 21:16, 16 December 2008 (UTC) QUOTE(FT2) Holy smokes. |

This earlier thread on WP:ANI amused me.
"Oh please stop it. Not another Giano thread. This thread makes exactly as little sense as most of the Giano drama we've seen before. Don't people ever tire of it? Fut.Perf." {...} "The only problem we had was, Giano was acting like a total [redacted] and Thereas was calling him on it. I have myself unblocked Giano on previous occasions, but this block I found entirely reasonable. Now, we already have a heaploads of extra rules about who may and who may not block or unblock Giano, what else do you want? You want another rule about what drama Giano may or may not cause? Seriously, man. Now, can someone close this thread please? Fut.Perf." "I'm sick to death of Giano threads, I'm sick to death of the focus on this one user. Ban him, canonise him, write up WP:GIANO with whatever special rules you want, but leave the rest of us alone please.--Scott Mac (Doc) 16:10, 16 December 2008 (UTC)" |

Giano, Peter Damian, ScienceApologist, SlimVirgin, Moreschi… Wouldn't it be easier just to can FT2? Recently, I advised Giano to take the red pill and wake up from Wikipedia's exploitative life-sapping addictions. Long ago, I publicly called for Slim to lay down her power-books and move on. Just about everyone here asked Peter Damian to stay away from WP. And today I advised FT2 that he was drowning, and to cut his losses before he sinks like a stone. And I don't even edit WP! Within hours, these people are at it again. Y'all mad as geese. And you just can't help yourself. This has got nothing to do with creating a scholarly body of work, and everyone involved is lost to a self-deluding nether world of nonsense. |

Now why does Wikipedia seem to look more and more like fascism every day? Because "fascism" is the natural state of tribal man, with a new name given to describe it when it's large scale and scientified. That's Churchill's "perverted science." Anyway, WP has regressed to the primitive state of human culture, in the absense of advanced democratic government. Which they have given up, not being able to figure out how to make it work with anonymous players. And being so narcissistic as to think they could come up with something better than than what we've learned from the last 2 millennia of human conflict, just in their spare time, and sort of as an emergent surprise. Well-- surprise-- they couldn't. |

This is the beginning of the end for FT2 and his brown-nosers. It will take a long time and be very bloody, sad to say. Seems to me that Peter, Giano and various others could pool their resources, get a server, and run their own specialist wiki or wikis. Do whatever they wish. Or go to Citizendium. But of course, they won't have the huge "captive" audience that WP has. This post has been edited by EricBarbour: Tue 16th December 2008, 11:05pm |

It's time for ArbCom to be abolished. I intend to start an RFC asap, with the intention of removing them. It probably won't work, but I think it'll be a good idea to see how much confidence the community really has for the ArbCom. Very little probably. LOL.
Oh and also, I shall be proposing removing Jimbo Wales as "founder" position, meaning he no longer has the right to grandfather us around. It's not 2003 anymore, we're big enough to look after ourselves without divine intervention. |

We need the new arbitrators to assume their duties immediately. All possible pressure should be placed on Jimbo to rubberstamp the appointments and let them begin work early. As precedent, I remember following a past election that the new arbs started before the anticipated beginning of their terms.

we're big enough to look after ourselves without divine intervention. While I'm not exactly enamored of either Jimbo's position or the way he uses it, can you cite a single piece of evidence in support of the above? Not really, but most disputes are solved by the community. We have proven time and time again (through numerous ban discussions, mediation, RFCs etc) that we can look after ourselves. It has come to a point where I firmly believe arbcom is a net negative to the project, and is actively causing more damage than good. |

Can someone explain where all this anti-ArbCom animosity suddenly came from? I read on Charles Matthews talk page that he was heavily admonished in an RFC though no details were given there. I mean, besides the Giano blocks, what all has happened recently on or off-wiki to cause this brouhaha? It doesn't make any sense as most Wikipedians were at least tolerant of the ArbCom until today. Something must have happened to cause all this anger and it surely can't be just over Giano and Moreschi?

There are not enough "uninvolved parties" for my liking. Only 26 so far. No case without at least 50 uninvolved people turning up and writing long passages on whatever the hell they like is worth getting out of bed for these days.
