QUOTE(EricBarbour @ Fri 4th September 2009, 4:02am) *

He never gets the clue---after 3 years, he's still driving Twinkle around, stepping on toes and making people angry. Huge dickhead on IRC.

What is the IRC shit that helped to blow apart his RfA? Rude little Roux made catty hints of some sort of outrage, but I have no clue what TPH said that was so outrageous. Anyone got dirt to spill? unsure.gif

The best answer for him would be that he would abstain. It's a nonsense analogy suggesting he had to close his own RFA.

I rather think the question was more interesting than that - what would MZMcBride think about the RfA of someone who had acted like he has and does? It's just a guess but my feeling is that MZMcB would not have been in the support column.

It's a bad guess in my opinion. I am fairly certain he would have supported.

Closed as successful by Taxman. Final percentage was roughly 75-76% support.

Usual bolloxy crap: "This RfA is actually closer than an numerical reading of it may appear since for the most part the opposes are well reasoned and few state themselves as weak oppose." So perhaps if they'd stated themselves as "strongest possible oppose from the master of all the known universes", then the result might have been different.

Nah, it probably would have been the same, and probably even a unanimous RfA: people would have suspected sockpuppetry had all the opposition admitted to being the master of all the known universes. unsure.gif

Does anybody over the age of twelve really take this "switching to strong/weak support/oppose" crap seriously? Isn't that what kids in a playground do?

Well, in World War II, a bunch of countries switched from Neutral to Oppose and Oppose to Support. ermm.gif

I don't: unless they're accompanied by a good rationale, I tend to pay less attention to them.

As a matter of unrelated interest, how would you characterize the change in America's attitude following Pearl Harbor?

An advance case of WTF. Most Americans were so pre-occupied with the European conflict that relatively few gave a damn about what was brewing across the Pacific. Being hit off-guard put an immediate end to the isolationism that kept the US out of the war.

That accurately sums up the United States and its "foreign relations" in the last century:
act like a 12-year-old, scream and whine if a bully punches you, then spend trillions
of dollars to build a steamroller---and use it to squish him, and of course any bystanders.

(How else to explain the response to 9/11?)

Um, weren't we talking about McBride?
