My wiki-senses are tingling with this guy.

I can't put my finger on his agenda, but I will guarantee he is a "he", and I guarantee that "improving Wikipedia" is not his primary motive, and I'll bet that it's not even his secondary motive.

Can somebody figure him out?

Not much to go with. A very occasional contributor who is obviously tied in to a specific industry. Not a very good copy editor, but he has a clear agenda. Clearly not interested in adminship!

If I were gambling today, I would bet it is a sock puppet account rather than an SPA.

Doesn't "SPA" mean "sock puppet account" rather than "single purpose account" in some cases? Bleah, nevermind.

What's on his talkpage is funny as hell:

Hello. I saw you removed quite a lot of text in several articles about companies. Why did you do that? --Apoc2400 (talk) 23:47, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Because I've been researching these companies and these articles look like they've been written by their marketing departments. They lack many references and look like company brochures. Could you please restore my edits? I left all the items with references alone. Some of them have gone unreferenced for quite some time. --Hsdnfrht (talk) 03:42, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

He's right too--most of his removals were of press-release-style self promotion.
And Apoc came along and reverted, the dumb shit.

Perhaps Hsdn works in advertising.....? And the Cantor Fitzgerald article still reads as if
company flacks wrote it....badly.

I don't think I've seen anyone use the abbreviation to mean that. If it appeared that way it was probably a coincidence owing to the significant overlap between these user-groups.

…the dumb shit.

That Apoc reads this site assiduously is a common fact. I don't believe I've seen this cat do anything other than react to threads on WR.

Indeed, considering this edit to gel bracelet.

Now, back on subject, we see User:Hsdnfrht deleting a very large timeline of the Legrand company article.

Apoc reverts.

Hsdnfrht undoes Apoc.

The entire timeline is sourced back to a page on Funding Universe, which from my brief scan, seems to contain most of the dates and events that Hsdnfrht is hellbent on deleting.

Seriously, what is going on here? Is Hsdnfrht simply experimenting with Wikipedia to see how much content he can remove before meeting resistance and/or blocking? Or does he have some agenda to remove material that is uncomfortable to one of his employers or clients?

It's fascinating.
