This elaborate hoax was set up with several articles created by User:Womblethereof.

It was mentioned at the Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard yesterday and all the articles have been deleted.

His 238 twitter followers and the folks at the Huffington Post (where he wrote an editorial that received 130 comments) have yet to catch on though.

How whimsical; in January 2010, the scion of a heretofore unknown line of Rothchilds emerged and started blogging at Huffington Post.

He's also blogged there as Stefan Roberts and was once known as His Excellency Lord Stefan Roberts of Jersey. I tried to point this out as a comment there, but I fear it will forever be "awaiting moderation". Maybe valleywag would enjoy getting a dig in at Huff.

A friend of mine is a nurse who practices in and around Lagny. The Rothchild family had a very well-known chateau in FerriĆØres, which is within her practice. One of the main Rothchild brothers of the French branch lives in a house within the park of this chateau.

She knows these people. She has seen their asses, as she's given them multiple shots for various things.

Just forget about the Rothchilds and everything people say about them. They have to pull down their pants to get a shot like the rest of us!

I hate to tell you this, but the average person doesn't have to pull down their pants to get a shot of anything. Unless it's a monster dose of long-acting penicillin to cure your syphilis because nobody trusts you to take pills every day.

Or maybe some nasty oil-based thing like testosterone, but not too many other things. Perhaps the Rothschild men are all doping/juicing a bit, in the name of preventive geriatrics.

Or maybe the French just like to give bum shots. wink.gif "Nurse, please come to my chateau this afternoon. I'll be needing my usual butt-load of vitamins...."

Not so sure about that. I visited Earsnoses'n'throats-R-Us back in August on account of I had "acute bacterial otitis media" i.e. some kind of ear infection. For $160 they gave me a shot in the ass and pills to take every day (actually every 8 hours), but they seemed to work.

And probably would have worked just as well without the shot in the ass. But you'll never know, as they obviously considered it an ENT emergency, not worthy of the "let's wait and see" treatment on pills alone.

I have to admit you do remind me of one other ass-shot thingy, though, which is that there does exist a category of antibiotic called a "late generation cephalosporin," which is too large and thick a shot to be given IM easily any place else other than a glute, and which isn't well absorbed in a pill. So conceivably, you could have gotten one of those (ceftriaxone or cefepime or cefa-something-else). Not that there's a great deal of evidence that they're better than one of the many, many oral combos available for a middle ear infection, especially an untreated one.

Somehow I doubt that Rothschilds get regular third of fourth generation cephalosporin shots, either. But I suppose there are some circumstances where they could be used instead of an IV.

Hmm, that could be what it was. I tried to ask what was in the shot but by then they were more interested in shooing me out the door. I do know the pills were amoxicillin. Doubtless I could have picked that up without a prescription by describing a fictitious pet (o por hablando un poquito de espaƱol, al supermercado local del barrio), if only I knew what the hell I'd be shopping for.
