Wikipedia measures success based on three metrics: number of page views, number of active editors, and number of dollars collected. All else is irrelevant, except to the extent that it benefits one of those three metrics, and the last most of all.

Dare I say it.......Wikipedia sounds like just another commercial social-media invention.

Facebook still wins.

I can't wait until Wikipedia adds some kind of farmville game to help pass the time.

They did, I think they call it Wikiquette Alerts - at any rate one hears the snorting of pigs, and the braying of asses whenever one loads the feature.

I am waiting for a song parody of this new fiasco, with Randy channeling Evita for a rousing wail of "Don't Cry for Me, Wikipedia." ermm.gif

It won't be easy
You'll think it strange
When I try to explain what I wrote
Does it still need attribution
After all that I've done?
Won't you believe me?
All you will see
Is a song you once knew
Although now it's dressed up to the nines
Tim Rice will not have a clue.

I had to let it happen
It had to change
Couldn't put it quotes with a source
So I took it out of the window
I cut and paste in the browser
So I chose plagiarism
Working around writing not a thing new
And this quite impressed them all
I always expected it too

Don't cry for me Wikipedia
The truth is I wrote this for you
These are my own words
My contribution
I give my promise
Don't keep your barnstar!

And as for plaudits and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to Durova
They were all I desired
They are illusions
Not the RfA solutions
They promise to be
The bastards opposed me last time
So I vote you and hope you'll vote me

Don't cry for me Wikipedia
The truth is I wrote this for you
These are my own words
My contribution
I give my promise
Swear by the GFDL!

Have I said to much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you
But all you have to do
Is look at me to know
That every word is true
