Wikipedians are struggling with finding a "neutral" / "objective" answer to this one. I also gave my standard "WP:Canvassing is a stupid policy" speech: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=447912187 |

Michael, you have left far too much work for the reader to do. Your link will no longer be relevant in a month when the Talk page is archived. Try to do a better job explaining to us what's going on, and then we'll take the time to bother looking into it.

One link away is Taiwanese aborigines, another fine example of quality writing:
QUOTE(Wikipedia) Taiwan's Austronesian speakers were formerly distributed over much of the island's rugged central mountain range and were concentrated in villages along the alluvial plains. As of 2009, their total population is around 499,500 (approximately 2% of Taiwan's population). The bulk of contemporary Taiwanese aborigines live in the mountains and cities. Ok so these guys originated in the mountains and the plains, and now live in the mountains and the cities. Got it. |

Because "sysops" always know best? ![]() The point was that the gaming on commons affects Wikipedia too, and it's easier for people to influence the names' of such etc there due to there being less activity, less oversight, and a much smaller pool of admins - it's the same thing as on Meta, it's baiscally how Wikipedia was, 7 years ago or something - there's been a lot of discussion about that lately: Wikipedia:Ignore_Meta (T-H-L-K-D) |

Now they want to redefine "Republic of China" to not mainly refer to the ROC. Haven't these people belittled the ROC enough already? |

Michael, are you surprised? Just look at Google helping to push the Chinese government agenda. China has a lot of money and a lot of influence. No matter how much the internet groups pretend to be for liberal causes and helping people, they tend to be the first to bow down to totalitarian governments when they get some kind of benefit.

It is clear that "China" as a country means the Communist one; it is recognised as such by everyone except the Government on Taiwan. The fact that the Communists are rather nasty people is irrelevant. (Taiwan is not quite Utopia either.) It is obviously to violate WP:UNDUE to give the claims of Taiwan anything like as much prominence as those of the Communists.
