Is this Wikipedia edit a myth, a mistake, a fact, or some combination of?

Dunno, but the German Wikipedia says the same, only in more detail;

What appears to be the accurate fact (as far as I can tell from newspapers and books) is that Paulus was appointed to some sort of "military historian" role, but staffed within the Volkspolizei organization, so that he could get paid and have someone watching over him. Does that make sense?

They're a little rough on Paulus with that traitor stuff. Almost like they agree with the Nazis.
