After a roaring start that quickly hit WP:100, Danny's RfA shows signs of faltering. He has only ran about even out of the last 20 "votes" cast. Support is a bunch of lvotes. Oppose are articulating actual arguments. Seems they feel that Danny should at least provide cogent answers to standard questions.

Let it be known, that Danny's RfA will pass. I am sure he could get as low as 55% and the closing admin would still promote him. I can't imagine an RfA less likely to fail than Danny's.

QUOTE
Danny is not done with his work on Wikipedia, not by a long shot, and it would help him in his continued work for the project to gain adminship rights back. There isn't a single person in the entire world more familiar with Wikipedia than Danny. Whereas Jimbo has been more of an absentee God-king, Danny was in the office every day from 9-5 working on some of the trickiest issues that Wikipedia faces, and then would often log on after work and help write articles. He has an ungodly number of edits for anyone who cares about those kinds of things. He's also handled all sorts of behind-the-scenes stuff that few have ever heard about, but was vital all the same.

What do you make of [[User:Cyde]]'s reference to "God-King" in Danny's nom? Do they know that that's not a good thing? Does it indicate a serious split?

CharlotteWebb calls up an usual diff in support of Danny's honesty. In it a rather defensive Danny make some specific claims to a sort of academic credential, that is publishing both an academic and popular works. What do we know about this?

It shouldn't be hard to track down with Google Scholar.

I don't see a problem. Even if SlimVirgin, or Whoever, assumes the throne of God-Queen, there's still room on deck for a God-Knave.

SlimVirgin as God-Queen? I think she is a destructive and polarizing influence. She tends to drive away those that disagree with her instead of finding compromises, which will only help the population of Wikipedia Review and Citizendium.

There will be no glory in your opposition! I will erase even the memory of Wikipedia Review from the histories. Every page on Wikipedia Review shall be deleted. Every Wiki critic and every journalist shall have their eyes put out and their tongues cut from their mouths. Uttering the name of Brandt or Wikipedia Review will be punishable by death. The world will never know you existed at all.

Or even better...

Danny: You bring the crowns and heads of retired admins to my city's steps. You insult my OFFICE. You threaten my cabal with deletion and death! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Wales. Perhaps you should have done the same!
Jimbo: This is blasphemy! This is madness!
Danny: Madness? THIS. IS. WIKIPEDIA!

Uh, yeah, so... why don't you just take another look at those TPS reports, and if you could maybe avoid any, like, lethal physical violence or whatever, um, yeah, that'd be great... also, we're gonna need you to come in on Saturday...

I'm actually quite proud a few people have had the balls to stand up and publically oppose danny. I have no doubt in my mind Danny thinks he's doing the right thing... unfortunately his methods eat shit and just divide the community even more.

I'm so confused...

on the one hand I am glad he had the balls to stand up and quit the foundation when he decided they were a waste of space... on the other his actions as WP:OFFICE were as Wikitruth put it so clearly "Office says so ... shut up" which i completely abhor.

It is interesting how the distribution of opinion holds up. Currently the 50-50 split between support and oppose has held up for the last 60 "votes." The effect is to greatly dilute the strength of the majority. Oppose still articulate significant arguments but the formerly cocky support have abandoned the tone of "this is our right" and lowered themselves to the rude mechanicks of argument.

I wonder if anon1234 is right. Will some admin ignore the lack of consensus and impose the right outcome? I also share some of Alkivar's perplexity. The opposition feels like the right thing, but maybe it's preventing a palace revolt. It would have helped if Danny would have shared reasons for leaving the foundation instead of waiting for a June Surprise.

Has to be a bureaucrat, not an ordinary admin. Raul654 did that recently, and there was a huge outcry. I doubt that he'd risk doing it again, and I think that the other bureaucrats are a bit too independent-minded.

Incidentally, I see that Kelly Martin and SlimVirgin are back in the same camp.

But what, exactly, is the "right outcome"? The people voting to make Danny Wool an admin are, in effect, opposing the foundation's current leadership, aren't they? Florence/Anthere and Erik/Eloquence certainly don't want Danny Wool to succeed here, though I doubt they'd vote to oppose. Dave Gerard hasn't voted either.

I'd have to agree with Alkivar - this is very confusing!

Danny's at 77% right now with a couple days remaining, no risk of failure until he is less than 70% and I suspect he'd be safe even at 65%. Thus this question is premature and may not arise unless people get mobilized to vote in opposition.

Well certainly if Danny would have sailed through it would just be business as usual. Now that events have developed I guess it depends. Are we WR Mensheviks or are we WR Bolsheviks? I don't mean anything in terms of non-wiki left/right politics. You can be a good Republican and a WR Bolshevik or be a WR Menshevik and be a master leftist. Its about attitude toward reform.
