I find this quite funny and I thought I should share it with others. I noticed someone has just entered this into Ali Khamenei's article:

"Shayan Qajar proposed a law that would make himself shah and would execute Khamenei. Qajar killed 2 guards that tried to subvert him after his proposal. After that Qajar was shot to death."

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=135968466

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shayan_Qajar

Having been familiar with Iranian history I knew right away that this has to be a joke. Even a person without historical background may notice this by the way it's written:

"he killed two of them using his martial arts training before being shot to death...two secret chambers containing antique swords and a ninja outfit were discovered...He was the first member of the majlis to have 4 wives"

But what is interesting is that the Shayan Qajar article has been around since Sep 2005 - and been archived on many websites, confusing many bloggers and historians, who are asking if anyone has information regarding this person! This one http://seyyedmohammadi.blogfa.com/8511.aspx has gone to research all members of parliament to note that this person hasn't existed in history, and he seems to be confused why does this "encyclopedia" has an article on this!

I think if wikipedia wants its users to report these sort of articles, it should welcome new members with different political prospectives, unlike how it is now especially on Middle-eastern articles, where Jayjg and his gang claim ownership over all of this "encyclopedia" with full support from Jimbo.

I suppose it's a good thing it wasn't a BLP matter, at least.

Um...I think that we just did....If this wasn't changed in the next few hours, I would be very surprised.

They watch, you know.......

Hilariously, there's now a prod template on the article citing this WR thread. That sounds like a BADSITES emergency to me.

Honestly, I wish this kind of thing would just be speedy deleted. There's no reason to let an obvious hoax sit around for five days, regardless of the template and the cite needed tags. If there's one thing IAR should be used for, it's maintaining the accuracy of the encyclopedia.

It was a good thing that recently the citation were inserted by an anon user. Another user http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=106424104 had previously tagged it for speedy deletion, before reverting himself, and copying the article to his userpage, apparently for finding it amusing! That's our Wikipedia (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/smile.gif)

Thanks for pointing this out - it's gone now.

How many more Shayan Qajar articles are out there? Nobody knows. How many of them make libelous/slanderous/despicable statements about real people? Again, nobody knows. There's 1.8 million articles out there and counting, and there's no doubt in my mind that there are dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands of ticking time bombs.

And some people wonder why we're getting militant about biographies...

It's not a bad thing to be that way, in the end.

Inclusionists are in favor of deleting hoax material as well.
