It looks like Wikiabuse.com is evolving into a useful tool for collecting information related to admin misconduct for use in internal WP processes such as RfC or RfAr. I raised the issue of IRL identifying information collection for the purpose of inducing accountability through litigation here. Root determined that that would be outside the scope of WA project here. I expressed my agreement here. Despite this the inclusion of personally identifying information has been a vexing management problem on WA. The current WA position can be found here.

Please stop putting names, addresses, pics and other personal identifying information into WikiAbuse. This does not seem to be within the scope of the project. I have given some though into what kind of conditions and controls would permit the responsible implementation of the IRL identity project. Here they are:
  1. Use of a completely non-public wiki or other software during the initial collection phase;
  2. Participant by invitation only, absolutely no self selection;
  3. complete IRL vetting of participants within the project, no outside disclosure of participation permitted during information collection phase;
  4. No WP admin participation;
  5. Strong confidentiality agreement required of participants, no tolerance for violations;
  6. Use of only lawful means of collecting information, beyond that no discussion of methods and sources;
  7. use of 'no index' and encryption to protect integrity and privacy of information;
  8. Once information is substantially collected, provide public portal to explain nature and allow requests for information;
  9. WP admin not given access to their own information, they may supply complete and verifiable information if the wish to assure accuracy;
  10. any request for information to be reviewed to assure request is for a bona fide purpose, and;
  11. any release of information subject confidentiality agreement permitting disclosure only in court documents, settlement attempts and discovery efforts.
These measures are intended to protect privacy and safety of admins, project participants, and assure the integrity of the information collected.

Funny you should mention it, because I was just about to comment on the question of WYA (Who's Your Audience).

If you are still spending large parts of your day having real or imaginary conversations with Wikipediots, not to mention the looniest of the looney bin inhabitants in the Adminion Ranks and the Arbitrary Commissary, then the WA project is doomed from the start.

If you address yourselves to that far, far saner crowd of Normal People In The Real World , assuming that you can still remember what people like that are like, then you may just have a chance in hell of being heard with some degree of comprehension.

We have had occasional visitors here who had somehow got the notion that the Wikipedia Review was supposed to serve as some kind of ArbCom Appeals Court. It was not a pretty picture all around trying to disabuse them of that burr in their brains or saddles, as the case may be. Let's hope that nobody makes the same mistake about WA, or else you are in for a passel o hurt and wasted effort.

I really like the idea of this site. I've registered. I'll think of some ideas about how I can contribute.
