Well after Isarig who is some Jayjg suckup/employee from Hasbara Fellowships got his preferred edit in, Jayjg protected the article and then promptly went on vacation for almost 6 months. Jayjg of course wouldn't protect it like this until Isarig got the version in Jayjg liked.

So this appeared on Jayjg's talk page about 6 months after it was fully protected:

QUOTE

Hi, you fully protected this article over 4 months ago. Is it now OK to reduce or lift the protection? WjBscribe 01:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Well Jayjg took two days to answer because he never edits on the Sabbath.

QUOTE

There doesn't appear to have been any discussion whatsoever on the page since the protection, and I fear that removal of the protection would lead to more sterile reverting. I supposed I could un-protect, with the proviso that anyone who reverts without Talk: page agreement would be blocked - what do you think? Jayjg (talk) 03:23, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Damn.....

1) Nobody unprotected it for 6 months because of fear of Jayjg.
2) Jayjg still says it should be protected. Insane!
3) Wikipedia actually lets an article be fully protected that long.

This is madness, an article protected for 6 months? blink.gif Clearly, Jayjg is close to Jimbo Wales. If you are close to Jimbo Wales, then like Gary Weiss and others you can do whatever you want and everyone else knows if you try and go against them you will likely get yourself banned. I think they should they just rename wikipedia "Jimbo Wales & Friends say..." just so we can all be clear what it is.

Is that a criticism or a compliment?

This has been brought up here many times as a way to find Jayjg socks that they'll likely never edit on that day.

You are probobly overstating the reason it was not un-protected. It wasn't unprotected because noone asked for that to happen.

How about unprotecting me? Or are my musings on science, philosophy, logic and algebra too harmful to stomach?

So your argument is that incompetence is more likely than malfeasance? Imagine that!

Not incompetence, he probably just forgot.

Not everything Jayjg does is completely nefarious, after all. Pages get protected and forgotten about. I'm sure we could probably track down a bunch if we wanted.
LamontStormstar
Many of you are forgetting that Jayjg didn't protect it like that until after Isarig got in Jayjg's preferred version.

That's suspicious, but is a different issue from maintaining the block for months.

Go back through my logs and you might find some pages I have protected and forgotten about. Unlikey though, because I don't protect much, and i use the timeout feature. But yeah, if a page is protected for a long time, someone just needs to notice it and unprotect.
