Sad. Kind of creepy too.

Wikipedia addicts; spend so much time online, it is questionable whether or not they could have a real relationship with their families, and they certainly are underemployed. What business could keep someone on that spends all their time on Wikipedia? How does anyone like JzG, or Durova have a real day job? ohmy.gif

I'll bet 10 to 1 that if this ever gets posted to Jimbo's talk page, it will either be reverted or the word "troll" or "trolling" or "trollish" will be uttered by Jimbo in response, without a "yes" or "no" answer from Jimbo ever forthcoming.

luvly. so is the excuse that you have never seen this behaviour before, nor been told of this, before? If so, what are you going to do to correct it now? for some reasons, the rest of your admins are terrified to correct this, as they are under the impression that you do condone it - as JzG has implied on site that he is your point man in the shootonsight campaign - and asked specifically back from yetanotherretirement to do so. i encourage you to correct his problem before the non-intimidated part of the community does so anyway. family tragedies, the south of france, and menacing user page photos are no excuse for a long pattern of abuse.

Colonel Guy Kurtz's methods are....unsound. Your orders are to proceed up the Cannes Delta and terminate his admin tools with extreme prejudice.

You're sure doing a lot to give the impression that you prefer your friend Mr. Bagley to my friend Mr. Wales.

I move to have this thread placed in the JzG arena and add re: Is this JzG with Jimbo's blessings?
Nathan
Consider the thread moved. Someone else can retitle it if they wish.

...the behaviour of the person "JzG" over the past year...

Just this last year? Well, it seems that would be enough of a horror show to convince the average wikiplebeian what has been taking place.

If someone did it from the beginning they would have what I would imagine amounts to an encyclopedia-JzG of intimidation, tool abuse, inappropriate behavior, and irreparable damage to the project that makes Durova look like a charter member of Wikipedia Review.

(Edit: Oh, look at that, I finally got my first gray block... Somehow it's less satisfying than I thought it would be. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.)

There a few of Guy's more egregious diffs from earlier times, but most of them are from the past 12 months. Too many "old" examples would be ammunition for the inevitable wave of blind pro-JzG support from the usual suspects ("you can't judge Guy's behavior based on his edits in 2005!") .

We all know who they are (SlimV/Crum375, Georgewilliamherbert, MONGO, Mikkalai, ElinorD, David Gerard, Jayjg, etcetera) and what they'll say - "yes, Guy has some rough edges but his heart is in the right place", "if everyone admin worked as hard to defend the project as JzG this would be a much better encyclopedia", "the issue is not Guy but the TROLLS ARRRGH he is battling", ad nauseum.

I have no doubt the fact Viridae (and now I!) have posted on Wikipedia Review will be brought up and used to try and derail the process.

The RFC must be watertight, and as lean as possible, because every minute flaw will be focused upon to distract from the main issue - JzG's behaviour has been contemptible and he must be desysopped - I don't want him representing Wikipedia (and whether they/we like it or not, admins are seen as representatives).

Excellent points all around. It's good that balanced individuals such as yourself are involved with this pending RFC to make sure that everything is done by the book. All the best, godspeed.

Individuals of any organization that not only become addicts of power and rank, spending all of their waking hours obsessed with same, but also then seemingly transform themselves into cold steel personalities where power to the firm at all costs and "the ends justify the means" becomes a way of life...should be demoted instanter.

The element of people at Wikipedia that take on the role "Gestapo," do everyone, everywhere, a great disservice and should be ever so swiftly escorted out the door. smiling.gif

OK, I'm done making my point.

However, it begs the question: What's Jimmy's definition of "appropriately"?

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Tue, 26 Feb 2008 15:33:11 -0500)

Right, well, it looks like things are proceeding appropriately. No reason for me to intervene.
QUOTE(Nathan @ Tue, 26 Feb 2008 14:52:00 -0500)

Since you don't condone JzG's actions, maybe you should do the next logical step: consider removing his ability to "represent" Wikipedia. He's a disaster waiting to happen (or one which has happened repeatedly, depending on your point of view).

That RfC will come out eventually and when it does, there will be hell to pay for JzG.

I'm just thinking it would be a solution which would be kinder, gentler and quieter - mostly quieter.

Of course when you read this, consider the source, what with me being a troll and all...

Jimmy, by letting Gary and JzG twist in the wind that is WP Community Justice - slow when intimidated - is doing WP a disservice.

Letting the bloodletting drag on is just making 2 sorry situations much worse for everyone else too. The toxicity is leaking into the WP Ground-water and the GodKing isn't touching it for fear that the town will blame the mayor for letting it happen.

Now just more of the town will blame the mayor, and not just the first few who had their wells contaminated.

I haven't been blessed with the telephone stylings of Mr Meetthe Metz, or any other WP:RS journalists, since I am an anonymous suggestion-boxer, but I would guess that the journalist(s) are watching intently, and the reaction, as it was with the Essjay Affair, are as much a part of the story as the cases involved.

Is it truly a game of chicken between WP, Journalists, the Emails, to see who blinks first? I am really surprised WP is letting it drag on.

Time to purge your Jedi's and get some new Skywalkers, Jimbo. That last batch turned into Darth Vaders.
