To be fair, I have quite a bit of time for David Shankbone. Sure, I have serious concerns about his whole Israel trip, but he does genuinely go out and create content in his own time.

Does he get publicity out of it? Sure, but he has provided a heck of a lot of images for Wikipedia and a lot of articles have been improved by his additions.
