Agreed. It's lost it's original "unmasking the abusive admins who hide behind anonymity while abusing the privacy of others" purpose (WR itself does that considerably more efficiently) and has just become "list of people Daniel doesn't like".

Strange, the Hive Mind has been removed from Google search.

Why, what did she do? A few years ago, her frequent meltdowns were amusing, but she seems pretty demure these days.

Her name is Patricia Schempp, she's on Facebook.

This gives you a flavor of her dismissive hurtfulness.

And here she was trying to scuttle my run for Arb Com.

Here's where she started to turn the corner for me, though.

I just remember her own posting of her field hockey photo, and she looked feisty. Of course, somehow that photo got oversighted, since some information doesn't want to be as free as other information. She'd be a good addition to the Hive Mind.

Oh, there was one other classic moment with Pschemp. As a ruse, I put the wikitext of the Aaron's, Inc. article from Wikipedia onto my early paid-editing Wikipedia Review site. That made it look like Aaron's was possibly a paying client of mine. (Of course, they weren't.)

The test worked flawlessly, leading Pschemp (who was snooping around my site to try to "catch" paid editing clients) to nominate the article for deletion. Look at the result, for a chuckle.

All of them, without stigma and without any means of "negotiating" removal. Just a directory of the IRL identities of all (as many as can be found) WP admins.

The admin AniMate -- who was last seen calling "A Nobody" nasty names on the latter's Wikia page -- is an animator named Daniel Ross (his real name was his former WP handle). However, I don't know if there is any confirmed photo of him online.

I tend to agree with Eva Destruction. Hivemind is basically Daniel's playground for getting back at admins - and editors, and anyone associated with Wikipedia - he doesn't like.

I'd like to see all admins act appropriately and not abuse their position. "Outing" them probably won't make them suddenly change their ways.

It might be a game to some, but most people just want to get on with it without abuse from cranks.

I asked Brandt about this -- he said that Peter's ID is no secret (his real name is in his WP handle and he is on Facebook for all the world to see). It makes sense -- the Hiveminded crowd were mostly hiding behind pseudonyms, with only a couple of exceptions.

Yes, it must have been quite a coup finding the real identities of Jimbo Wales, Brad Patrick (still second on the list though he resigned over three years ago), David Gerard, Angela (Beesley), Tim Starling, Fred Bauder ...

I don't know if Daniel posts here anymore, but is he aware of this?

It's unfortunate that he can't get the Foundation to delete any article about him from all their projects. Wikipedia is going to haunt him forever.

The Spanish one is only two lines, says virtually nothing, and is untouched since 2007. Daniel need lose no sleep at all over it. The Polish one is much more substantial, complete with 15 references. I suspect it's a translation of some version of the English article. Any Polish speakers about?

It is a little difficult to get in touch with Daniel to offer updates to the list.

I cannot think of any "good guys" that I would want to protect. I can think of a lot of idiots I think should be on the list and connected to their real life identities ... but then I think all Pee-dia accounts should be.

Makes perfect sense to me. Actually, if all the admins receive the same treatment it becomes more of a "change the culture" thing as opposed to a "don't piss Daniel off" thing.

Well the Polish one doesn't look too bad; it puts Daniel in a reasonably favourable light. I think I remember much worse stuff in the English version. And as for Esperanto, no doubt there are Wikipedia enthusiasts who've learnt it specially so there can be yet another glorious Wikipedia.


No doubt Daniel's outed lots of people. However, considering the alleged reason for Hivemind thare are far too many people on it who have never hidden their identities. Also, people should come off it once they cease to be active admins.

Daniel took me off Hivemind some months back. I'm not sure why, but he did. I'm basically retired from all that now
