And the two editors who could efficiently counter him, Nishidani (T-C-L-K-R-D) and G-Dett (T-C-L-K-R-D) , are still both topic-banned, as they have not spewed out a million articles on synagogues.

You know, I doubt anybody cares about editors who only want to create articles on synagogues, and if the topic bans on anybody extend that far, I'd be a bit shocked. I can understand comebody being topic banned from Jewish/Israeli political articles, but not Judaica in general.

That said, Jayjg is nearly a single purpose account (SPA). He edits on Judaica, and that's about it. Yes, he does do synagogues, but who cares? WP:NOTPAPER. I cannot figure out, however, why he shouldn't be permanently topic banned from anything to do with Israeli/Jewish politics, forever.

Jayjg is a good example of the fact that WP's credo to have editors who are interested in creating an encyclopedia, isn't actually true in the case of somebody who has managed to amass some butt-kissing points, as Jayjg has over the years. Most other editors would be topic banned forever after causing his level of trouble, and told they should be glad they are not being banned-banned for being SPA and POV-warriors.

I'm more than a little irritated by this, as I'm sure I myself would have been banned from WP long ago if I'd done half the things Jayjg has. And yet, I'm actually there to build a good encyclopedia (knowing that the content will not be controlled by WMF forever), and have edited in about half the Dewey decimal first-decimal categories. If I were topic banned in any single category of knowledge you like (make it any subject as wide as a college major) I could and would go on happily editing WP as though nothing had happened. tongue.gif

Do that with Jayjg with Jewish politics articles, making it permanent, and I'll give you even odds you'd never hear from him again.

ermm.gif Uncle Milty; I´m not not sure I understand you here? Jayjg was indeed topic-banned from Israeli/Arab politics, but NOT from creating articles about synagogues. Nobody (AFAIK) has argued in favor of banning him on that!

But what he has done is this: creating a zillion insignificant articles on synagogues (which, lets face it: nobody gives a damn about), getting some of them to GA and FA...... (to quote you: "managed to amass some butt-kissing points") and, bingo!: He is free to edit anything he likes in the whole Israel/Palestine area.

Here is a serious player.

As if we didn´t know.

I'd like to hear from Nuke why they did this. (yeah he still reads WR.)

It's a bad idea, hokay? Are we agreed?

This is an old, old argument vis-a-vis Wikipedia. The very nature of the place attracts and retains a certain kind of partisan editor: the kind that has a strongly-held position to push, but who can work the internal political system within the Wiki in a way that protects them sufficiently to push that position.

Many of the leading Wikipidiots fall into this category: Jayjg (T-C-L-K-R-D) edits Judaica and Israel/Pelestine topic almost exclusively, as does his clone IronDuke (T-C-L-K-R-D) . SlimVirgin (T-C-L-K-R-D) has a strong point of view around "animal rights", a topic on which she will brook no opposition. That she edits other topics is part of her prodigious political apparatus -- the topics are almost always to curry favor or exact retribution. While she started by parroting Jayjg's positions on Israel/Palestine articles, she began editing in opposition once he was topic-banned. The next step will be interesting.

Other prominent Wikipidiots have their own partisan topics: various cults, Transcendental Meditation, (dare I say it) Lyndon LaRouche, ... the list goes on.

My prediction is that Jayjg will return very tentatively to Israel/Palestine articles, primarily using his admin tools to protect the edits of his co-partisans, rather than adding a great deal of original content. He already has Wikipedia largely the way he likes it.

Thanks for clarifying that. Glad he was never, and will never, be topic-banned from creating synagogue articles. But, yes, there is something drastically wrong with being able to create synogogue articles like shooting boars in the woods, until you amass enough points to get out of jail or whatever it is, on the massive World of Warcraft or D&D game, and go back to creating havoc in the I/P wars.

If that's what ArbComm did 12:0 (it wasn't obvious to me just what they did) they are nuts. But what's new.

Yes, a serious "player." Seriously obscessed. As OCD as they get. I doubt he's paid by anybody, except as a side effect to feed him to do something he'd do anyway.

Yes, there's no refudiating that.

LOL! Forgotten that! The WoW "shooting bear for points" is actually a beautiful metaphor for what some people have been doing on wikipedia. Beautiful! smile.gif (Guys who don´t get it: google it)

Hell if I know. I never really followed the history of Arabs and Israelis on Wikipedia, so I don't even know what things Jayjg did in the first place to get topic banned. I might have read one of his synagogue articles once, but that is about the scope of the interaction I have had with him.

It's gonna blow your mind, then, to learn that there are about a million Arab Israelis!
