This is a great example of an article that has no reason to live. Apparently, some genius thought that it would be also appropriate to provide examples of MILFs, both in the form of names and images. Then there was an unusually productive and readable thread about it at the BLP board.

We've seen this sort of thing before, of course - it's actually understandable that Wikipedia would want to be the Urban Dictionary, because the Urban Dictionary is cooler, often cleaner, and doesn't carry BLPs. Unfortunately, the Urban Dictionary is also funny on occasion, and Wikipedia isn't good at funny.

Speaking only for myself, i.e., a respectable middle-class guy approaching 50 years of age, this whole "MILF" thing is a real downer. Attractive divorced women in their late 40's are supposed to be fairly eager to have guys like me go out with them, but noooooooo - because of the internet and cheap video gear, they think they're all total sex kittens now. So they're looking for guys who are 35 or younger, and guess what - the guys who are 35 and under are more than happy to have them, because they're guys, and they'll date anyone who smiles in their general direction. (Most of them are also narcissists, I would imagine, which makes them even easier pickings.)

Long story short, Wikipedia is once again helping to make everything worse for everyone, especially me. Way to go, Wikipedia!

People love to mess with the MILF article. Disgusting. 30-50 "edits" per month, only a few of them actual "vandalism".

It's nice to see that he's being shot down and the Scientology information being steadily whittled away by simple logic from the other editors.

I'm pretty sure that what is there needs some copy editing.

I think Will Beback may be concerned that all this noise about Scientology may not actually be a Scientologist plot after all, and that this may be a wider effort aimed at actual enforcement of existing BLP policies.

I'm struggling to see how MILF is a BLP issue. A MILF is a woman of a certain age who is attractive. Thus calling a woman a MILF implies that this person is (a) of that age, (b) attractive. Of course, nearly all BLPs give the person's age (if known). It can scarcely be derogatory to call a woman attractive.

Of course, to apply the label you need a recent and reliable source that she is currently still attractive. Also, no doubt someone will cry "WP:SYNTH" or "WP:OR" if you call someone a MILF merely because they have all the criteria to be one.

Spell it out; it's "Mothers I'd Like to Fuck". Now stack that article with the RL names of women who are alleged to meet that criterion, or have been described so in the (tabloid) presses.
