Someone complained about the horrible, evil corporation Sony, in that they used Wikipedia in their film about The Smurfs.

Wikimedia spokescrony Jay Walsh delivers a rather interesting response.

I especially find interesting that the Wikimedia Foundation puts at the top of its list of reasons to reject a trademark permission request:
  1. Does the reuser intend to mock or parody Wikipedia?

At the very bottom of the list... "is the film extremely violent or sexual such that inclusion of our brand would be adversely affected?"

Yeah, because that might hurt their brand reputation, considering how straight-laced and lily-white their Wikimedia UK trustee happens to be.
