Here are some funny one-liners from Wikipedia:
*"Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point"
Unless you are the Wikimedia Foundation, of course.
*Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause
Unless it is the cause nobly supported by a poll, and the noble Lord Jimbo
And the immortal jimbofluff:
*"...instead encourage people to adopt an attitude of 'Here we are Wikipedians, out there we are advocates'. The point is, we don't act in Wikipedia as a Democrat, a Republican, a pro-Lifer, a pro-Choicer, or whatever. Here we are Wikipedians, which means: thoughtful, loving, neutral" Jimbo Wales 19:58, 29 December 2005
Bottom line is that Wikipedia was always ideological. The originals were libertarians (and libertines - or liberteens) ideologically committed to the free-culture movement. Of course Wikipedia was supposed to be NPOV, in order to attract a workforce of all ideologies, but when the free-culture lobby called, Wikipedia came home to mom.
