It's the blimp, Frank
Hi, everyone,

I am the author of this article, which has been getting a fair amount of traffic lately, thanks to the link from Wikipedia-watch. I am planning to expand it, with a concise catalogue of SlimVirgin's patented POV combat techniques, so I am asking WR members for some material for this section. Please be brief.

1. For her trump card, accusations of sockpuppetry, I already have the "linguistic skills" quote, and this suave formulation to illustrate the glories of check user.

2. I need some stuff on her rhetorical/sophistical approach, with choice quotes

3. Maybe some examples of her work with Jayjg?

Thanks in advance.

I will dynamic-post a few choice examples from my own experience on this page.

Tactic 1. The User Talk Page Paradigm Shift, also known as The Old Switch And Bait, The Old Soft Slew, etc. —
  • Example 1. The opening pwn move illustrated here, where a Policy Discussion in Open Forum leads to a Sneak Attack on a User Talk Page, is usually followed up by increasingly brutal WikiWhoopings Behind The WikiWoodShed, the WikiPerfunctory Block For Yakety Yak Don't Talk Bak, the WikiWoefully Epologetic "This Hurts Me More Than You" Ban, finessed up by Calling In The Midnight Cleaners to erase the evidence and protect the User Talk Page from "Vandalism" by The Newly Minted Troll.
Tactic 2. SlimVirgin and Jayjg Tag-Teaming on a POV-Putsch Attack. Using Demonstrably False Charges of Banned User Proxies as an excuse for Mass Deletions of Valid Content contributed by Numerous Non-Banned Editors.Jonny cool.gif

SlimV and Chip's politics are similar? I don't have as much experience with Chip as many here, but have had some with Slim - who seemed to me to be a staunch defender of Israel, Neoconservatism, and bush foreign policy in general. I had some interactions with her on the Zombietime article for a couple weeks just before I got banned. Isn't she part of the Neocon Cadre who are working tirelessly to purge Wiki from as many mentions of the terms 'Neoconservative' and 'Neoconservatism' as possible - and spin the term to imply that anyone who uses it is a 'Jew hating Islamofascist sympathizer'? Chip seemed to be a staunch Lefty to me. Am I wrong?
guy
SV is a staunch supporter of PETA, who will condemn Jewish animal slaughter methods because PETA does.
Unrepentant Vandal
Which is, of course, further evidence that she's a (name of psychological disorder redacted). And it's pretty consistent with her being Linda Mack.

Yes, I would say so. Chip has for years been what is called a "faux-leftist," the kind of leftist that pulls in the Big Bucks from the Ford Foundation for hounding all the real leftists. He has had no interest that I know of in economic justice -- only "identity politics."

In recent years he has made a significant move toward the Neo-Cons. Predictably, this takes the form of attacking anyone who criticizes them as an anti-Semite, because several major Neo-Cons are nominally Jewish. He is joined by his buddies in this tactic -- take a look at this section on "coded discourse."

I am particularly interested in well-documented (diffs, please) accounts of SlimVirgin blocking other editors in order to gain the upper hand in content disputes, which is specifically prohibited by Wikipedia Blocking Policy.

Folks here have been counting diff coup on SlimVirgin and all her SlimVestals till we're blue in the face. We've even speculated on the sort of software tools that we'd need in order to really keep track of Admin Vandals in real time.

But after a while you get burned out by the fact that all those little diffs don't make a BIG DIFF to NE1.

Now why is that?

One reason goes back to the Effective Ingredient of the BIG LIE.

The more that everybody keeps staring at the BIG LIE, the more accustomed, desensitized, habituated, and used to it they get.

And all that does it make it possible for the BIG LIARS to turn the BIG LIE into an even BIGGER LIE.

The only way to escape the escalation of BIGGER AND BIGGER LIES is not bury your nose in this differential dust, but to root out the BIG LIE at its root.

Of course, she may not have blocked them herself. In my case, she asked Kelly Martin to CheckUser me and then Kelly Martin asked Mindspillage to make the block.

There is a great trick that admins can do on Wikipedia. They have the power to undelete remember. Thus they can pull up that deleted page whenever they desire. I have seen some admins undelete a page, add more information and then delete it again. I think SlimVirgin did this with one page a half dozen or so times when she was tracking someone.

One of the edits was by an IP that geolocates to San Francisco... It's probably not Mayor Newsom, though. (His new girlfriend is kinda cute, actually! smile.gif )

Anyway, I checked out the IP, and believe it or not, none of our members have ever used an IP in that range on Wikipedia Review.

Probably. We've got at least a dozen formal representatives over there on WP, as well as a couple of bots we use to monitor possible abuse of the "that vs. which" rule.

Let's just say that if we were trying to resolve a few things with User:SlimVirgin (whoever "we" are), that's probably what we'd put there!

Personally, I wanted to post it on the talk page for the Prescriptivity article, just to see how long it would take before someone noticed, but the others voted me down. sad.gif

Interesting. While there is an argument that removing any material from this site might weaken its protection under section 230, it would seem reasonable to remove truly defamatory material, if for no other reason than I can see no benefit to hosting statements known to be false when criticizing Wikipedia and its admins.

However, a big part of the cabal's rage against Brandt is his analysis of their identifying information. One perspective, much in evidence here, is that anonymous editing and anonymous policing (cough, "administration") on Wikipedia creates an environment for abuse, and specific editors (like SlimVirgin) are enabled in their abusiveness by their very anonymity.

But this is truly amazing -- the version on SlimVirgin's talk page lasted five seconds!
Somey
Naah, HK, you misread that - it was five minutes. Plenty of time for Slimmy to get the gist of the message.

So now that that's taken care of, I expect all our problems with SlimVirgin will be over in a matter of... well, I don't know actually. It'll probably take more than five minutes, though...

Now that I think of it, other people are even quicker.
gomi
Slim has just come off of another 16-hour editing binge, producing over 250 edits to the article on the Holocaust. I haven't checked the article for any particular POV, but as a Slim FAQ, these binges come with remarkable regularity. At one edit every 4 minutes, on average, I'm sure they're of uniformly high quality.

She's been tinkering with the userboxes for eveything from 60,000 to 100,000 edits, so part of her motivation may simply be edit-count fetishism.

Either way, it sounds like intervention time to me. Even if you are a stay-at-home invalid, that much time spent on WP on a fairly regular basis cannot be healthy.

Most likely organic and degenerative. Those circuits where never meant to take that kind of load.

OCD from DSM-IV. I wonder if "Editcountitis" is "another Axis I disorder " for pupose of meeting the criteria?

Makes me wonder if she actually works. ;-)

I don't know what's funnier -- someone actually hauling out the "unsourced edit" template for adding the words "millions of" to a sentence... or Slim getting Wikislapped.

Newbie process wonkery meets established self-absorption. Something's gonna go *boom*.

Detestimonial

SlimVirgin is a relentless distorter of every bit of information she touches. Whenever I see her serpent authorship slithering through any article, I immediately drop it and go look for any other source on the subject.

IANADSMIVT (I Am Not A DSM-IV Thumper), but I may be tempted to go look up the no doubt redoubtable legion of names for "Pathological Liar", just to get a conceptual handle on what exactly SlimVirgin is.

When it comes to prognosis, though, I think Hippocrates had already gotten her number well enough:

Hippocrates, Aphorisms, VI.LIII (6.53)
