I've been away for a while and therefore haven't seen much of what has been discovered about Slimmy in the past 2 months or so. Can anyone provide a simple to understand summary of what we know so far on her?

Well... She'd done some good work on the BLP policy, leading to a minor-though-significant improvement therein. So after a bit of wrangling, I decided it was time to take a shot at ramping down the hostility, and I redacted her real name from this entire website. About 6 weeks later, though, someone named Ludwig de Braeckeleer wrote a blog about her role in the Lockerbie investigation, which quoted us (actually Daniel Brandt, mostly) with the real name reinserted. That blog post was picked up by Korea's OhMyNews, and from there, distributed by all the big news aggregators and reposted by several other second-tier news sites.

This led to much link-banning, comment-reverting, and oversighting of WP edits related to the story, and a highly divisive argument on WikiEN-L in which WP'ers' failure to "support" SV was compared to a "second rape." That in turn led to many WP'ers saying "enough with the irrational hyperbole," and a handful of them actually called for her and Slim-advocato supremo Jayjg to leave the site completely. The resulting argument over that offended Jayjg to the point that he actually has left, though I'm sure he'll be back soon enough. Slimmy was also gone for over a week, but has since returned and seems to be keeping a somewhat lower profile than usual.

A good summary. I got the impression, however, that we here didn't learn much of anything new that had not already been uncovered by Daniel Brandt and others a year or more ago. Still, some interesting new tidbits have come to light, and DB has recovered many of SlimLinda's talk page archives which she recently chucked down Th' Ol' Memory Hole. Also notable: in the recent controversy, Slimmy didn't get anywhere near the amount of "love-bombing" on her talk page that she received when she briefly left WP last year (maybe chucking her talk archives was a reaction to that).

And let's not forget Wordbomb's coup, in which he presented damning evidence that Virginia Slim was engaged in [gasp!] sockpuppetry, which led to a very enjoyable debate on the ANI board and is, according to reliable sources, now being discussed privately by the ArbCom.

Well, Ludwig's article actually provided new evidence as to what precisely SlimVirgin did with regards to Lockerbie, which was information that we didn't have previously.

It is interesting to think that Armed Blowfish may have been helpful towards making SlimVirgin and Jayjg look bad. I should thank her for that.
