They should block Chapmancentral, making an exception to the failed BADSITES policy.

That's really funny, actually!

Mssr. Guy learned this one from Brandt - how to use your off-WP "attack site" as leverage to get a WP'ian to submit to your will on WP (lol!):

Not only that, but there are 752 links from Wikipedia to this attackkkkk site! They must be removed, no?

We should be relieved when Guy goes from calling someone a dickhead to calling them a problem.

He's "taken it down":

http://www.chapmancentral.co.uk/w/index.ph...next&oldid=1063

I'm not sure what surprises me more: that he actually complied with ATren, or that he didn't have the decency to actually delete it.

I wonder, did he comply because he saw the topic here or genuinely because of ATren?

because he saw it here. he reads WR religiously. He is Somey's #1 fan, after myself of course.

There's a bit more to this than meets the eye, actually. User:ATren used to be known as User:A Transportation Enthusiast, and was the main pro-industry POV-pusher on WP for Personal_Rapid_Transit (PRT), a scheme for getting people in/out/around cities in futuristic little computer-controlled 4-seat electric-powered rail cars, or else a scheme for fleecing taxpayers, whichever you prefer. One person in particular, User:Avidor, opposed him - and in the end, Avidor was blocked for "incivility" or something, while A Transportation Enthusiast was allowed to stick around because of his ability to remain civil when people accuse(d) him of COI and various forms of bias.

Avidor wasn't happy, and even registered an account here on WR to point out the abusiveness of it all - but in spite of that, JzG was actually good enough to take up the slack on the PRT issue, and prevent ATren from simply taking ownership of the article(s) in question.

ATransportationEnthusiast was thus stymied, eventually changed his username, and had to promise to leave the PRT articles alone, for the most part. Or at least that's how I remember it...?

The "attack page" on ChapmanCentral was actually quite well-deserved, such as it is. ATren's request to remove it may even be a signal that he intends to give it another shot.

thanks for the backstory.

of course, whether someone deserves an "attack site" attack is neither here nor there. It's the policy man, the policy! We can't have Wikipedians being attacked! We just can't! Arrrrrghhhhh - woah, I was possessed by the Holy Spirit of Wikipedia there for a second.

Well, I didn't say it wasn't hypocritical... I mean, that goes without saying, right? smiling.gif

Besides, if he's my #1 fan, I've got to say something nice about him at least occasionally... I just wish I could figure out why he doesn't like bicycle helmets. Maybe it's because "helmet" and "harass" have the same first letter, number of syllables, and number of letters? If he has really poor eyesight, he might easily mistake the two...

Hey, I thought of that when I was about 10 years old, but it seems impractical and unnecessary on reflection (it's easier to walk (to the train/bus/plane or get a taxi if absolutely necessary).
