In response to this inquiry on the mailing list

http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikien...rch/041718.html

nobs forwarded the following e-mail. Let me preface it with a disclaimer. Nobs was placed in a difficult position with ArbCom, Jimbo, and list moderators. As a believer in the viability of the Wikipedia project, and having spent several months contributing in good faith and abiding by all stated Wikipedia policies (including NPA), it became difficult to ask for a fair hearing, without sounding as if I were trying to blackmail the wiki bosses, for the gross violations of process which now have resulted in defamatory smears against my name and person.

Actually there is a very interesting ongoing story (scandal perhaps).
The Chairman of the Arbitration Committee, Mr. Fred Bauder, as well as
a Wikipedia "notable expert", Mr. Chip Berlet, are both former members
of the National Lawyers Guild.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...&oldid=29476030

Mr. Berlet has been admonished numerous times for "excessive
influence" over his biographical page, yet the Arbitration Committee
has never seen fit to enforce its "admonishments".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Req..._in_Chip_Berlet

The National Lawyers Guild article now is in the early phases of
Wikipedia's so-called "dispute resolution" process.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:National...s.2C_and_Is_Not

At issue, is a citation from Prof. Harvey Klehr which reads,

"The NLG [National Lawyers Guild] is an affiliate of the
Soviet-controlled International Association of Democratic Lawyers
(IADL).... Over the years it has steadfastly supported every twist and
turn in Soviet foreign policy, including the invasions of Hungary,
Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan."

Harvey Klehr, Far Left of Center: The American Radical Left Today
(Transaction Books, New Brunswick, 1988), p. 161.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...id=28992316#NLG

Both men, one a former NLG Vice President, were NLG members at the time of
the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Another editor recently was
banned for one year after Mr. Bauder determined that proper citations
to Prof. Klehr and others, as per Wikipeida's stated policies WP:CITE,
WP:Verifiability, and WP:Reliable Sources were "personal attacks" on
another user.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...&oldid=28326018

As per Wikipedia policies and guidelines, so-called "experts" are not
to cite themselves and avoid neologisms. The Conspiracism article was
created by Chip Berlet,

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...4&oldid=9289545

Berlet cites himself in the article in violation of stated polices.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...&oldid=25614043

A link from the Chip Berlet article, "Finding Our Way Out of
Oklahoma", by Adam Parfrey, Alternative Press Review, Winter 1996

http://www.altpr.org/apr7/oklahoma.html

attributes the neologism, "conspiricism", to Chip Berlet, in violation of

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Avoid_neologisms

Other sources cite Berlet as the author of this neologism as well, yet
he is regarded special privilege, in violation of stated policies.

The [[Soviet invasion of Afghanistan]] article states,

"An estimated one million Afghans were killed between 1979 and 1989"

Wikipedia contributors, "Soviet invasion of Afghanistan," Wikipedia:
The Free Encyclopedia,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_invasion_of_Afghanistan (accessed
December 2, 2005).

The [[Democide]] article states,

"Significant 20th century democides...Afghanistan (1979-2001) 1,400,000 "

Wikipedia contributors, "Democide," Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democide (accessed December 2, 2005).

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Yet the NLG good 'ol boy network
takes punitive action against users who try, in good faith, to follow
Wikipedia's stated policies.I'd be happy to provide more details to
interested parties. Thank you.

Well, to admonish someone is "to reprove gently or kindly" or "to counsel against wrong practices; to caution or advise", so the only way to "enforce" an admonishment would be to make the reprobation, to give counsel or to caution and advise someone.

I won't say too much on this because I'm only somewhat familiar with the ArbCom decision itself and not the debate leading up to it, but I will say that I've followed you up until this point (arguing that a source should be cited), although I don't get what you mean by this. What is the connection between this statistic and the article on Chip Berlet?

For how to do forum shortcuts.

That might help with writing things like this.

Thank you. Here all the full quotes and citations without comment from me, just as they were presented on the Chip Berlet discussion page, and determined by Fred Bauder to be "personal attacks". All quotes are clearly cited, per WP:CITE WP:V & WP:RS, and are not authored and/or plagerized by me.

"A 1981 issue of the publication states unequivocally that “The Public Eye is produced in conjunction with the National Lawyers Guild Committee Against Government Repression and Police Crimes.” It also lists Chip Berlet as a managing editor.95 ...

The same information was provided in extensio on Talk:Fred Bauder

Mr. Fred Bauder included in his decision to accept the case, "Based on Nobs01 edits to Talk:Chip Berlet" (Note: Find one instance of a "personal attack" by Nobs01 on the Chip Berlet Talk page at the time of Mr. Bauder's posting, 02:42, 16 November 2005 (UTC), or anywhere in Wikipedia).

Numerous allegations by the complainant, which Nobs declared "provably false", have in fact been proven false; yet (1) Mr. Bauder never disclosed his conflict of interest until after decisions were made; (2) Mr. Bauder made findings of fact before evidence was presented by the respondant; (3) while admitting the defamatory smears user:Cberlet, aka Chip Berlet used to prompt Committee action were false, Mr. Bauder still refuses to publish a finding of fact; (4) evidence exists that Mr. Bauder unfairly interfered in user:Nobs01 right to appeal to Jimbo Wales.

What is evident is (1) the NLG was created as a Soviet front organization. (2) Bauder and Berlet were both members during the Cold War Era; (3) Berlet was managing editor of a Soviet funded mouth organ during the Soviet democide of Afghanistan; (4) the mouth organ ceased publishing with the collapse of the Soviet Union. (5) Berlet revived the mouth organ as a "non-profit" entity; (6) Berlet is afforded "expert" inhouse status to judge "acceptable content" and granted priveleges to harass "troublesome users", both contrary to stated, and published Wikipedia policies; (7) the two have acted in concert to smear, defame, and cast aspersions upon the reputation of Prof. Harvey Klehr, and have banned me for demanding citations to refute Prof. Klehrs work. (8) Bauder has not only allowed Berlet to publish unsourced, unscholarly, novel interpretations and original research, Bauder himself is using Wikipedia as a soapbox, to propagate the myth that Harry Reid "might very well be the next Majority Leader", despite the fact that no polls or citable experts support this contention. This may infact constitute an in kind campiagn contribution, in violation of Federal Election Commission regulations.
