It looks like "Penis Size" was part of the original "Adult male bio" template, only the fieldname was (and is) "measurements," with the words "Penis Size" substituted automatically. The infobox was added to the
Ron Jeremy (T-H-L-K-D) article by
Tregoweth (T-C-L-K-R-D)
in
this edit.
Someone called
Neitherday (T-C-L-K-R-D)
later merged the the male-specific pornstar template with the female-specific one to create
Template:Adult bio (T-H-L-K-D), on
Sept. 27, 2007, using a new field called "measureispenis" to distinguish the "measurements" field from female measurements (presumably bust size, waistline, etc.). This was apparently part of an overall attempt to "streamline" things, over the objections of the ever-vigilant
AnonEMouse (T-C-L-K-R-D)
, as can be seen on the relevant
talk page entry. Streamlining is essential when dealing with pornstars, as I'm sure we're all well aware.
Putting aside the whole question of whether or not penis sizes are appropriate for a general-reference encyclopedia, I think the important thing here is that Wikipedia is providing the very thing that people have needed since the internet was originally invented by Al Gore: A searchable, indexable, sortable database of male-pornstar penis sizes, which will finally allow the average consumer to make intelligent, well-informed choices as to which pornographic videos and films to buy and collect. (This, of course, assumes that the quality of any given porno is directly proportional to the penis sizes of the male actors who appear in them, but I think that's something we can all agree on.)
