I'm surprised this hasn't made more of a splash over here, as it has been getting a lot of coverage over there, in the press.

It has some good ingredients: Canadian dept of defence computers used to support the government position on military procurement. And the Opposition Liberal Party Leader Michael Ignatieff was insulted various times:

The second edit claiming he "has six toes on each foot" - picked up in the story here http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/2010/07/2...ipedia-dnd.html . A Wikipedian gloats the 'someone's gonna lose their job' http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=376170486 but the reality is the IP was just some clerical officer on a low pay grade who probably will get fired, but the real problem is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit.

Following the same story, CBC news has a poll 'Wikipedia: Do you think it's reliable?'

You can vote! The form has a witty reminder "This poll is not scientific. It is based on readers' responses"
