I hope this is a case of Mashable's often inaccurate reporting. Adding a button to the interface for adding "wikilove" templates to other user's talk pages is just about the dumbest, most superficial "social networking" attempt I have seen in a long time.
It's not going over so well in the Mashable comments.

Does this mean that Uncyclopedia will come out with an "Unlove" button?

WP went down that route with barnstars and little userboxes. Now all they need to add is a "Find friends" functions.
